Introduction to Data Management Planning

2014/12/04 @ 14:00 - 16:00

Organised by the Research Data Service
PLEASE NOTE : There is one free place on this course. If you wish to attend, please contact us.

The policies and expectations of funders and publishers around research data can appear daunting at first. There are a number of factors to consider, including the safe storage of data, documenting data appropriately, deciding which parts of your data are important, providing access to data where appropriate and ensuring data survives in the long term.

All of these issues can be addressed through the production of a Data Management Plan (DMP), now requested by many funders as part of the grant application process. This two hour workshop will outline the key elements of this important document and through presentations, discussions and a practical exercise offer advice on how to successfully draft a DMP.

This event is aimed at early career researchers based at the University of Bristol. We recommend that you take our research data bootcamp (a quick online tutorial) before you attend the course.
