Managing Your Research Data

2016/03/02 @ 10:00 - 12:00

The policies, expectations and requirements of funders and academic publishers around research data can appear daunting at first. These call for safe storage of data, documenting data sufficiently, deciding which parts of your data are important, providing access to data where appropriate and ensuring data survives in the long term.

This course will introduce the support available at the University to help you meet these challenges and offer practical advice on how effective data management can assist you throughout the research cycle.

By the end of the session you will be able to:

  • Define what research data is
  • Appreciate the importance of data management planning
  • Identify the data publishing options available to you at the University
  • Understand the principles behind research data management
  • Apply these common principles to your own research

This course is open to all research staff. Post-graduates are welcome to book any spaces available two weeks before the course is run.
