Deposit agreement

By accepting this agreement, you:

  1. Confirm that the Thesis is original and you are the author and owner of the copyright in the Thesis.
  2. Confirm that the Thesis is not and shall be in no way a violation or infringement of any copyright, trademark, patent, confidentiality obligations or other rights whatsoever of any third party.
  3. Confirm that if the Thesis does include any substantial subsidiary material owned by third-party copyright holders, you have sought and obtained permission to include it in any version of the Thesis available in digital format via a stand-alone device or a communications network and that this permission encompasses the rights granted to the University of Bristol and to the British Library.
  4. Will confirm when depositing the Thesis whether or not a deferral on granting public access has been placed on the Thesis.
  5. Confirm that, if the Thesis has been funded or otherwise supported by any third party, you have fulfilled any obligations required by an associated contract or agreement.
  6. Accept that your Thesis will be made available in full without charge on the Internet via the University’s Institutional Repository (Explore Bristol Research).
  7. Accept that your Thesis will be accessible to a wide variety of people and institutions – including automated agents – via the World Wide Web and that an electronic copy of your Thesis may also be included in the British Library Electronic Theses On-Line System (EThOS). Once the Thesis is deposited, a citation to the Thesis will always remain visible. Removal of the Thesis may be made after discussion with the University who shall use all reasonable endeavours to ensure removal of the Thesis from any third party with whom the University has an agreement.
  8. Grant a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to the University of Bristol to make available the Thesis in digitised format via Explore Bristol Research. You remain free to publish the Thesis elsewhere in its present version or future versions.
  9. Agree that the administrators of the University’s Institutional Repository (Explore Bristol Research) may, without changing content, digitise and migrate the Thesis to any medium or format for future preservation and accessibility.
  10. Accept that the University of Bristol has no obligation to take legal action on my behalf, or other rights holders, in the event of infringement of intellectual property rights, breach of contract or any other right in the Thesis.
  11. Accept that access to the Thesis via Explore Bristol Research will be subject to a CC-BY-NC-ND creative commons licence but this will not prevent me from making the Thesis available under a more permissive licence on alternative sites.
